For two days – November 11 and 12, 2021, we will hold the 2nd Age.Comm Virtual Congress. There will be two days covering important topics in plenary sessions, interactive moderation, live discussion panels and much more.
The way we investigate and analyze the dynamic process of aging simultaneously is a key theme in our society, whose intervention must be multidimensional. It is on this premise that the Age.Comm – Unit for Interdisciplinary Research – Community Aged Functional, the Polytechnic Institute of Castelo Branco, draws its intervention, bringing together in a common space a group of researchers from different scientific areas, from the social and behavioral sciences , education, information and communication technologies and various health sciences specialties, in a search for understanding the phenomenon of population aging, in a systemic, holistic and sustainable perspective. From within one of the most aging territories in Portugal and Europe, it examines the history and impact of this aging, from two perspectives that are related and influence each other: Longevity and Development.
The congress aims to be a forum for discussing the challenges and opportunities necessary for the transversal, interdependent and integrated construction of a dynamic vision of Longevity.
The event will be built taking into account the theme of Longevity and Development, covering the latter in the following aspects:
- Community and Culture;
- Economy and Innovation;
- Society and Policies;
- Technology and Digital;
- Health and wellness;
Age.Comm’s mission is to understand the phenomenon of aging populations, particularly the analysis of how the communities of the older territories of the Portuguese interior deal with the aging processes, so as to contribute to the development of functional communities through the production and dissemination of knowledge that supports the definition of strategies that enable the well-being and autonomy of the elderly, their integration and participation in local life and the development of the territories.
